After teaching himself to play guitar and piano, Chris had only one desire - to write and perform his own songs. While on a madcap adventure in America, Chris made his live debut in the New York folk clubs in and around Greenwich Village after interviewing John Cale of the Velvet Underground for a French radio station. Armed with John's encouragement and the reaction to his songs Chris never looked back.
Chris has been the lead singer and songwriter for two British bands, but in order to find greater self-expression he set about recording his critically acclaimed debut album, This Atlantic Low which was successful in Ireland. Following on from this, Chris wanted to get back to a simpler and more direct approach in terms of song writing and his relationship to the listener. Inspired by Bruce Springsteen's album Nebraska, and Nick Drakes’ Pink Moon, Chris embarked on recording the album All Caught Up. The album has a raw and immediate quality which draws the listener in with its intriguing melodic and lyrical hooks.
After signing to Cooking Vinyl Music Publishing, he released a 4 Track EP Into The Blue in October 2010 which picked up significant airplay across the UK on both FM commercial and BBC local radio stations. Following on, Chris embarked on a unique tour of Sue Ryder Care shops right across the UK. He performed free daytime gigs at 25 stores and was invited to do 18 radio sessions and interviews predominantly for the BBC to help raise the profile of the palliative care charity.
Currently Chris is finishing the recording of his forthcoming third album The Light On The Hill, which is due for release later this year.
While the approach is similar to the stripped down essence of All Caught Up, the sound will incorporate a wider musical landscape in terms of the arrangements and instrumentation.
